Industrial brewing began with Cervecería Toluca y México in 1865, then Cuauhtémoc in Monterrey in 1890 and Moctezuma in Orizaba. Grupo Modelo was founded in 1925. Mexico kept the Vienna lager alive after Europe dropped it, and a craft scene grew from Baja California in the 2000s.
Who sells the beer
Grupo Modelo (AB InBev) 57% and Heineken México 40% of 10,120 million litres in 2024.
